Speaking during a podcast, the designer said she has invested heavily in her fashion business and believes customers are paying for more than just the finished outfit.
Veekee explained that she did not simply wake up one day and begin charging premium prices, stressing that it took years of work, creativity and investment to build her business into what it is today.
“I don’t charge below ₦1 million to sew a dress for a customer because I’ve invested so much in my business. Do you know the value you get when you wear my clothes?” she said.
She noted that creating a custom design requires significant time and creative effort, adding that there are moments when she struggles to come up with ideas and turns to God for inspiration.
“Sometimes I’m sitting down, I don’t even know what to do. Sometimes I have to just even start worshipping for God to actually show me what to do,” she explained.
Veekee said this is why she often attributes some of her designs to inspiration from the Holy Spirit, adding that people may not understand the amount of work and creativity that goes into producing her pieces.
According to her, customers are also paying for the reputation and value associated with the Veekee James brand.
“These are the things that people pay for. But people who don’t get it just cannot get it until it’s time for them to get it,” she added.
